In 2015 Freddie Gray died after he suffered a fatal neck injury at the hand of Baltimore city police. Freddie Gray suffered a fatal spinal cord injury on April 12 and passed away a week later. A lot of people took to the streets to document, but I remember coming across Joe [Giordano]'s work and was blown away. The work was raw, intense, and aggressive, just like the personality of Baltimore, and the work embraced the moment using imperfections to tell a vivid story. The up-close and personal style of Joe is one of a kind, the slightly out of focus paired with amazing motion blur that puts you in the shoes of Joe and his subjects. It was tough to select and narrow down these fantastic shots, and I picked images I feel screams, Joe Giordano!
